New Food for Your Muscles – Part 1
September 4, 2008 | 2 Comments
We all know chicken, brown rice, and salmon are all excellent muscle food but sometimes eating great muscle food over and over again can be boring and lead to diet burnout, causing you to hunt for The King of Burgers so you can have it your way, all thanks to lack of variety.
Here are some alternative to current known muscle foods.

Instead of Salmon, try Arctic Char
Just like salmon, this northern cold water fish is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, which promote fat-burning, reduce unnecessary blood fat, elevate your mood, fight heart disease and reduce inflammation meaning sooth sore joints and muscles post workout. Arctic Char is also loaded with protein, iron, zinc and antioxidant selenium that cleans up cell damaging free radicals. For added bonus, it tastes less “fishy” than most of the fish on the market.

Instead of Brown Rice try Quinoa
Originally from South American, this ancient Quinoa (pronounced “KEEN-wah”)definitely deserves to be called super-food. Unlike most grains, Quinoa taste great and also packed with all of the essential amino acids. Meaning Quinoa is a “Complete” protein like beef, eggs, and chicken. Not only has the protein that will make your muscles grow, it’s also loaded with fiber, magnesium, zinc and copper. This ancient Quinoa has light nutty grain flavor which taste great and also has low glycemic index. Which means your body will not store fat.

Instead of Beef try Bison
While you can make some horrible choices with fatty beef, bison (buffalo) is always leaner and bursting with protein, zinc, vitamin B12, and iron, much more than beef does. Remember, iron is responsible for delivering oxygen to your working muscles. Also, bison has omega-3s, and conjugated linolenic acid (CLA), which doesn’t clog up your artery and it’s also a great cancer preventer.

Instead of Olive Oil try Hemp Oil
Yes, we are talking about Marijuana plant. Like flaxseed, Hemp is loaded with essential fatty acids omega-3, and omega-6. But don’t worry, hemp oil has been cultivated for food production, so it has no THC and you won’t get the munchies. Since essential fatty acids are not made by body, you must get them much as you can through food such as hemp oil. Next time you have your Hemp oil vinaigrettes on your side salad, you can expect not just the omega brothers but loads of vitamin E, an antioxidant, healthier looking skin, and it lower cholesterol levels. By the way, because hemp oil is high in volatile fats (it has low burning temperature), it should not be used for cooking. Instead, try using homemade vinaigrettes or something.
Try it out and let me know how it is.
