Several weight trainers and fitness fanatics love in high-intensity, high-volume training programs. This consists of repetitive sets of exercises, 6-10 reps per sets, to failure. Apparently, athletes will make improve if were able to do more sets. Several lifters take carbohydrate supplements during extreme, high-impact workouts to keep them moving. This process might be a complete waste of time and energy. Based on study from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, led by Justin Kulik, discovered that feeding carbohydrate supplements during frequent sets of squats to failure – 5 reps per set at 85% of best single – had no impact on total sets, training volume, or total work.

Carbohydrate supplements boost recovery between training sessions. However, consuming carbohydrate supplements during a workout might be pointless. In addition, the benefits of extreme, high-impact failure training are questionable and the process could even be dangerous.
